About

I study Russian history of ideas, especially the post-Soviet period. I am particularly interested in the connection between past and future, i.e. how Russian intellectuals use history and historical myths to define what Russia "really" is, and the desired political consequences thereof.

I am also involved in an international project studying the image of the "Russian bear" in Russia and European countries:

My article on the stereotype "the Russian bear" in Norwegian newspapers 1998-2008 will appear next spring in the anthology "Russkii medved': istoriia, semiotika, politika".
